You Make My Heart Sing Book

when you go to visit someone in a nursing home, rehab ctr, hospital, (do they still have) rest homes. If feeling a little awkward, unsure of how the conversation will go, have the book with you, pick a chapter & read it aloud. The topic will conjure up memories for both the reader & the listener and conversation will flow when the chapter-they tend to be short-is finished. Deep down inside, we like to be read to.

Elizabeth's Essay is the first thing I read when my new Our State arrives. I love her memories of earlier times in NC. I was born and grew up in Switzerland, and became a North Carolinian in 1988. Having lived here a long time now, I have learned so much of the rich history of "my Home State" through your magazine. I have a hard time letting go of the old issues! To have the condensed essays in a beautifully illustrated little book makes my life less cluttered, and others enjoy the magazines now.

Absolutely love this book!! Very heart warming, reading it is like talking with a best friend or soulmate. Elisabeth is my favorite author!
